Musician Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir and dancer Inês Zinho Pinheiro have been working together on various projects since 2018. For the past two years, they have been exchanging videos, sounds and thoughts connected to performing. Their ideas have developed into the piece Internal Human which exists both as a live performance and also as a video installation.

The CD with access to the video artwork was released by Smekkleysa on the 22nd of July.

The piece is inspired by Lilja María’s instrument, a large string sculpture she built in 2020. While playing the string sculpture, Lilja María explores movements that emerge naturally from interacting with the sculpture. Inês takes these movements and translates them to different environments that were chosen based on shapes found in the design of the sculpture. Inês interacts with these environments, using architectural shapes as inspiration for developing the movements.
